Job Overview
The Facilities Mechanic role at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits is a critical position that oversees the operation and maintenance of warehouse equipment, as well as general facility maintenance. This individual will be responsible for monitoring performance and implementing programs to improve operational metrics.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintaining and repairing electric order pickers, electric reach trucks, and propane forklifts
- E nsuring all equipment and systems used in the warehouse perform optimally to meet company nightly production and shipping goals
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing efficiently all mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical equipment and devices used in Material Handling Systems and Facilities
- Performing scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and systems and updating required documentation and repair logs
- Assembling and installing equipment, cabinetry, appliances, and furniture
- Repairing roofs, ceiling tiles, floors, partitions, windows, doors, plumbing, drywall, and paint
- Maintaining parts inventory and ordering parts as needed
- Attending shop meetings and utilizing/maintaining personal tools
- Utilizing specifications, technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and ladder diagrams as needed to resolve equipment issues
- Ensuring a safe working environment adhering to OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and procedures
- Maintaining confidentiality of all SGWS business and complying with all company rules and regulations as outlined in the employee manual
- Performing other related duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities
This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalency, plus one year of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
Physical Demands
- Frequent sitting and operating a motor vehicle
- A considerable amount of time walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping
- Additional hours may be required during peak periods
- May require working at heights of 8 feet or greater
- May require lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 56lbs
