Overview
The Yard Hostler is responsible for yard tractors, tractors and straight trucks to position equipment to and from the yard and warehouse. Additional duties include operating warehouse power equipment and other assigned tasks when needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform pre-trip inspection and inspect trucks thoroughly
- Move all trucks in and around the premises
- Assist in picking products for production from various warehouse locations
- Operate all warehouse equipment
- Assist in picking products for production from various warehouse locations
- Track all containers coming onto and leaving the premises
- Perform acceptance of inbound loads (per company standards)
- Close and security seal truck after loading is completed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Additional Primary Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency plus 1 year of experience
- Must have a current Class A Commercial Driver s license
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move more than 60 pounds (lbs.) repetitively
Physical Demands
- Physical demands include a considerable amount of time walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes
- Must be able to regularly sit and operate machinery such as a forklift
- Additional hours may be required during October, November, and December and other peak periods
- Must be able to frequently lift/lower, push, carry, or pull 60 pounds (lbs.) repetitively
This position is deemed a safety-sensitive position. As such, any person who is given a conditional offer of employment will be required to pass a drug test, including a marijuana test.
