What are the responsibilities and job description for the DSP (Direct Support Professional) position at Southern hands quality care?
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with disabilities in a residential setting
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and minimize challenging behaviors
- Ensure the safety and well-being of residents at all times
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment
- Support residents in participating in recreational activities and community outings
- Document and report any significant observations or incidents to the appropriate supervisor
Experience:
- Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and resident rights
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects or assist residents with mobility needs
- First aid and CPR certification is a plus
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
