What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical therapist Assistant - PTA position at Southern Hills Rehab Center?
1. Reports to the Rehabilitation Manager, Lead Physical Therapist as indicated and / or staff Physical Therapist.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Treats residents as directed by the Physical Therapist. Contributes to Physical Therapist’s
effectiveness by identifying patient care issues and providing information and commentary.
2. Monitors patient progress throughout treatment; prepares and maintains records and reports as appropriate, ensuring adherence to procedural safeguards and confidentiality requirements.
3. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
4. Participates in resident care conferences and weekly rehabilitation meetings.
5. Communicates with supervisor and other interdisciplinary team members regarding resident progress, problems, and plans.
6. Participates in facility in-service training programs.
7. Records daily treatments and labor according to corporate procedure.
8. Instructs families and staff in maintenance programs as directed by the Physical Therapist.
9. Practices safety, environmental, and / or infection control methods.
10. Be familiar with Standard Precautions, Exposure Control Plan, Fire Drill and Evacuation
Procedures and know how to use information.
11. Protect residents from neglect, mistreatment, and abuse.
12. Assists with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area and department.
13. May require work beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications :
Associate's degree
Current license in state of practice.
Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identified
areas of specialization.
Organized and detailed in work performance.
Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing
facility.
Comply with the Residents’ Rights and Facility Policies and Procedures.
