Shower Aide-Certified Nursing Assistant
Job Summary :
A Shower Aide-CNA is a professional healthcare provider responsible for assisting
residents with personal hygiene and bathing needs and assisting residents at meal times.
The Shower Aide-CNA works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed
Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide basic care to patients who need assistance due to age,
illness, or physical limitations.
Essential Job Functions
This facility expects their employees to promote an atmosphere of teamwork with other
employees and hospitality and comfort for its residents. Therefore, the following list of
duties is not all-inclusive :
Assisting residents at meal times and documenting meal percentages, and any
dietary concerns or changes observed.
Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks, including showering, bathing, dressing,
grooming including combing and blow-drying hair, as well as oral hygiene.
Help patients in and out of the shower, ensuring safety and comfort.
Maintain patient dignity and privacy during the bathing process.
Monitor and report any changes in the patient’s condition to the nursing staff.
Assist with dressing and undressing as necessary.
Ensure proper cleaning and sanitization of the bathing area after each use.
Help patients with mobility and transfers, using appropriate lifting techniques and
equipment.
Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of patient rooms.
Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients, ensuring they feel
comfortable and respected.
Record and document patient care activities, including any observations about the
patient's health.
Follow infection control procedures to ensure safety and hygiene standards are
met.
Assist with other basic care activities as directed, such as feeding, toileting, and
repositioning.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Valid and active CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification.
Previous experience as a CNA or in a similar healthcare setting preferred.
Ability to lift and assist patients in and out of the shower or bath.
Strong understanding of personal care, infection control practices, and patient
safety.
Compassionate and patient demeanor with strong communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under the direction of licensed
nursing staff.
High school diploma or equivalent.
