Position Overview:
The EHR Support Analyst (ESA) Lead holds a critical role in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of Southern Humboldt Community Healthcare District's (The District) operations through comprehensive support of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. This position serves as a knowledgeable liaison between The District and OCHIN, ensuring a seamless integration of Epic system functionalities with operational needs.
Essential Functions:
- Strategic Planning
- Develop a strategic plan outlining the goals and objectives of ESA team efforts.
- Relationship Building:
- Build and maintain strong relationships to facilitate collaboration and support.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Communicate progress, achievements, and challenges to internal and external stakeholders.
- Clinical Staff Support:
- Provide direct support to clinical staff and patient care teams to facilitate the introduction, acceptance, integration, and optimal use of the Epic application.
- User Support:
- Provide daily support to Epic application users through troubleshooting, coaching, and training.
- Issue Resolution:
- Identify, assess, and troubleshoot application and equipment issues, ensuring full resolution. Collaborate with OCHIN Help Desk for complex issues.
- System Setup:
- Maintain system setup specific to The District, including preference lists, Smart Phrases, Provider Master Files, and Fee Schedules.
- Error Queue Management:
- Manage error queues and In Basket pools established in EPIC in collaboration with department managers and subject matter experts.
- Optimization Collaboration:
- Collaborate with OCHIN to test new features and upgrades, coordinating User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Training Coordination:
- Coordinate and provide necessary training to new clinical staff, support staff, and providers. Manage User Security and new employee setup.
- Competency Training:
- Provide competency and efficiency training for existing EPIC users.
- Professional Development:
- Attend monthly OCHIN ESA meetings for information sharing, continuous training, and best practice discussions. Collaborate with OCHIN and advisory workgroups to optimize system use through the implementation of new features and upgrades.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree
- minimum of two (2) years of working experience with an Electronic Health Record
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Two-year college degree and four years of experience in a commensurate position in a professional environment or equivalent experience and /or education
- General knowledge of medical terminology, patient flow, and U.S. healthcare systems. Technical proficiency, including familiarity with MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Teams/WebEx) and webinar applications such as Zoom.
- Past experience with JIRA or an equivalent ticketing system.
- Experience with EHR software, specifically Epic preferred.
- Training experience in a clinical/healthcare environment working with providers and support staff.
