Position Summary
Education
- Responsible for managing the operations and clinical aspects of the oncology physician’s office located at the SIH cancer center. The oncology practice requires clinical knowledge and will report to the Oncology Clinical Operations Director. Responsible for effectively coordinating with physicians overseeing patient care services, appropriately staffing the practice based on volumes and working closely with the Regional Practice Director and Assistant Imaging Director Oncology and Breast Services to maintain and improve financial performance and operating efficiencies.
Education
- Bachelors of Science Nursing required
- MSN preferred
Licenses and Certification
- Current Illinois RN License
Experience and Skills
- Technical Experience: 3 years clinical oncology experience in physician office setting or equivalent experience in a professional specialty office setting.
- Supervisor Experience: 2 years
Role Specific Responsibilities
- Clinical Aspects: Manages Oncology practice effectively in regards to clinical quality, fiscal soundness, staffing and staff supervision.
- Clinical Aspects: Develops other chronic disease care entities consistent with the demands for Oncology population health.
- Clinical Aspects: Develops, implements and maintains Oncology Health Navigation programs and manages/leads related navigators.
- Clinical Aspects: Coordinates with Medical Staffing office to complete New Service New Provider processes for all new Oncology Service programs as needed.
- Clinical Aspects: Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Oncology Quality Program and ensuring the integrity of all national databases. collaborates with all related Oncology physicians.
- Clinical Aspects: Works collaboratively with Oncology Medical Director and other providers to solicit and implement suggestions for Oncology process innovation within Oncology Services
- Clinical Aspects: Works collaboratively with Radiation Oncology Manager in supervision of the Radiation Oncology nurses.
- Clinical Aspects: Monitors and responds to patient/family/ physician expectations.
- Practice Aspects: Maintains effective communication with physicians, staff, and Cancer Institute/Breast Services leadership.
- Practice Aspects: Monitors compliance with established standards, practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Practice Aspects: Oversees activities of physician office functions. Visible and present daily rounding for facilitation of patient flow as well as patient and provider satisfaction. Available for immediate and timely response to barriers or obstacles to daily workflows.
- Practice Aspects: Interacts and collaborates regularly with physicians/providers, at the Cancer Institute and Breast Center, to provide direction and oversight of effective schedules, efficient clinic workflow and patient flow, establishing and maintaining a cooperative, relationship of trust with providers. Discuss significant concerns with the Regional Practice Director and/or the Clinical Director Oncology.
- Practice Aspects: Responds to patient complaints; analyzes and determines necessity to elevate the complaint based on situation, potential risk, effective resolution, clinical care concerns, etc.
- Practice Aspects: Provides leadership to direct reports in the execution of work plans and long and short-term goals. Implements site level infrastructure and changes to supporting processes and systems. Implements and completes site goals.
- Practice Aspects: Drafts initial requests for capital, operating and staffing budgets.
- Practice Aspects: Monitors, measures, assesses and improves site performance using patient satisfaction data, SIH reports of budgeted vs. worked hours, RVU reports and EHR reports.
- Practice Aspects: Acts as liaison to Marketing and Communications to promote the growth of Oncology Services
