Description

The School of Health Sciences in the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIU Carbondale) is seeking qualified applicants for one or more Assistant Lecturer faculty positions within the Master of Science programs in Medical Dosimetry and in Radiologic Sciences, beginning on August 13, 2025.

The intent of this announcement is to identify a pool of non-tenure-track faculty for these programs. These are variable-time, term, non-tenure-track positions that are contingent on available funding and enrollment. Reappointment is possible based on performance, programmatic need and budget availability. The successful candidate will teach in the Medical Dosimetry program and/or Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences (MSRS) program.

The target salary offer for this position is $6,000.00 per month. Actual salary for part-time appointments will be prorated based on the percentage FTE of the appointment.


Examples of Duties

  • Provide online classroom instruction
  • Teach via an online and traditional delivery method using the Desire2Learn education platform or the platform currently in use at SIU Carbondale
  • Participate in all program duties as described in accreditation standards, which include program assessment activities
  • Participate in professional practice, seminars, or workshops necessary to maintain up-to-date skills in medical dosimetry and/or the radiologic sciences
  • Engage in other duties as determined by the Director of the School of Health Sciences

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
For Master of Science in Medical Dosimetry Program:
1. Master's degree in Medical Dosimetry, health, or a related field.
2. Current ABR Physicist or CMD credential with the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB).
3. Two years or more relevant work experience within Medical Dosimetry or Medical Physics.

For Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences Program:
1. Master's degree in Imaging Sciences, health, or a related field.
2. Current ARRT or other imaging credential.
3. Two years or more relevant work experience within the field of Radiologic Sciences.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Doctoral Degree in related field.
2. Working experience within a JRCERT accredited program that documents teaching and supervisory experience with Medical Dosimetry and/or Radiologic Sciences students.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as organizational and technology skills.
