Description
The Coordinator plays a vital role in student recruitment, development, and tutorial assistance. This position serves as a liaison between target schools, students, parents, and the community, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. The Coordinator is also responsible for tracking student progress, analyzing data, and preparing reports. Additionally, this role includes the supervision of summer staff to support program operations and student success.
The target salary offer for this position is $45,000.00 annually. Final salary offer will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.
Examples of Duties
This position is responsible for recruiting the 85 students necessary for the program's function, helping to retain students at a rate of 80%, and assisting in post-secondary enrollment & completion at 70%. This position is also responsible for assisting students in keeping a 2.5 GPA at a rate of 70% and assisting in achieving a proficient level on standardized testing at 60%.
The coordinator position for Project Upward Bound is unique as Upward Bound staff does not have set hours and are subject to varying hours of operation based on student needs. The coordinator is also responsible for assisting the project director with facilitating the program's 6-week residential summer program.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required by date of hire.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in TRIO programs.
- Coordinator must be diligent in recruiting students. S/he must be diplomatic in their interaction with school administrators, parents, and students while being an ambassador for Upward Bound and the Trio philosophy.
- Advising, academic counseling, written, and oral communication skills.
- Must work 13-15 Saturdays during the academic year, and weekends and evenings during the 6 week summer program.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Two years or more of administrative experience in TRIO programs.
- Strong student recruitment skills and a commitment to identifying and engaging eligible participants.
- Knowledge of current issues in compensatory education and their impact on student success.
