Job Description/Responsibilities

The School of Pharmacy is seeking a dedicated and innovative Clinical Assistant Professor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an Ambulatory Care clinical practice in partnership with a healthcare institution to support the experiential education program. This role provides the opportunity to influence the future of pharmacy practice while mentoring students and preceptors, delivering high-quality instruction, and contributing to the advancement of the profession through scholarly activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Practice & Education: Establish and manage an Ambulatory Care clinical practice in collaboration with a partnering healthcare institution to support the experiential education program for pharmacy students and residents.
  • Leadership & Vision: Provide vision and leadership in the development and advancement of Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Practice, with a focus on enhancing patient care outcomes and education.
  • Mentorship & Preceptorship: Mentor and guide pharmacy students and preceptors, fostering professional development and advancing clinical knowledge.
  • Instruction: Provide instruction in the professional degree program, including didactic courses and experiential training, to ensure students are well-prepared for clinical practice.
  • Scholarly Activities: Actively engage in scholarly activities with the goal of building a record of professional expertise, research, and contributions to the field of pharmacy practice.
  • Service Engagement: Participate in service activities at the School, University, and within the broader professional and community pharmacy arenas to support the mission of the institution.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the School and the broader educational mission.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants for this position must possess the Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) from an accredited U.S. school/college of pharmacy. The individual must also have an active pharmacy license in the State of Illinois or be eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois. Applicants must have completed at least one year of residency training (two years of residency preferred}, or have equivalent experience. Individuals having training and/or practice experience in ambulatory care, primary care, or family medicine settings will be preferentially considered.
