Are you enthusiastic about providing a wide range of preventive, therapeutic, and educational dental hygiene services?
The SIU School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL seeks full-time qualified Dental Hygienist candidatesto perform oral examinations and periodontal assessments, remove deposits and stains from teeth, apply localized medications, take and process radiographs, and advise patients on oral hygiene practices.
The SIU School of Dental Medicine provides a range of treatments, cutting-edge dental therapies, and individualized care in a modern and relaxed setting.
What You Will Do
- Preparing and maintaining the operatory, equipment maintenance, sterilization processes, and assisting in dental procedures as
- Identify lesions, diseases, and abnormalities, administers fluoride treatments, desensitizing agents, and prescribed medicaments to maintain oral health
- Applying pit and fissure sealants, removing excess cement from teeth surfaces, educating patients on personal oral hygiene, encouraging adherence to professional dental advice, and maintaining / sharpening dental hygiene instruments such as scalers and curettes
- Act as a lead employee for dental assistants responsible for placing and removing temporary restorations, applying and removing restorative matrix material, and finishing and polishing amalgam restorations
- Maintains hand pieces and equipment, reports malfunctions, and upkeeps operatory appearance through thorough cleaning pre and post appointments
- Use the CIS system to gather and document medical and dental histories, update appointment records, and ensure accurate record-keeping approved by faculty.
