Job Title: SIC Maintenance Sheet Metal Mechanic/FT (GE WILM)

Job Summary: Southern Industrial Constructors seeks a Sheet Metal Mechanic for an on-going site in the Wilmington, NC area - the site has access to customer cafeteria and food services and is in a controlled environment. This role is for an on-going assignment. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3-months.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• General knowledge and ability to use power tools like shears, brakes, and presses to cut, bend, and shape metal to desired dimensions.
• Able to read, understand and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to accurately measure and lay out sheet metal pieces.
• Able to operate and adjust a finger brake and large hand break.
• Able to lay out a transition and radius elbow with different throat size.
• Knowledge of how to triangulate or figure growth on a rise or fall of a square transition mathematically.
• Knowledge of using a roller and not having a flat starting side.
• CNC or Plasma cutting table knowledge. Preferred but not essential.
• Strong mathematical skills. Able to calculate measurements and angles for accurate fabrication.
• Strong Tig Weld .063/.090 aluminum experience.
  
  

General Functions

• Support or lead other maintenance employees as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
• Analyze and resolve work problems.
• Complete all Safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC and Customer safety and quality processes and procedures at all times.
• Have thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of duties.
• Perform safety inspections of work area, equipment and tools to ensure compliance with government regulations, Customer requirements, and SIC’s safety program.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized working environment.
• Perform other job duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
  
  

Physical Requirements/Job Site Requirements:

• Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, freezers, and warehouses, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property and buildings
• May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to move in and around confided spaces and uneven areas
• Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms and other job-related noises
• Must be able to safely access all areas of property and buildings
• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working on ladders, and in awkward body positions
