Southern Insurance Underwriters, Inc. is looking for an experienced and motivated professional to work as an Underwriter Assistant within the Alpharetta, GA office! Our program is centered on creating the best possible customer service experience through the life cycle of each and every policy.
Job Summary:
The role will support the underwriting team in processing and managing both new and renewal business. This role serves as a vital link between insureds, brokers, and carriers, ensuring accurate audits, timely binding, effective invoicing, and resolution of operational issues. The ideal candidate is organized, communicative, and comfortable navigating accounting and carrier-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy Processing & Support
- Assist underwriters with quoting, binding, and issuing new and renewal policies in accordance with carrier guidelines.
- Prepare and review policy documentation, endorsements, and invoices for accuracy.
- Ensure timely submission and processing of bound policies and endorsements.
Audit & Compliance
- Support audit processes by gathering and reviewing necessary documentation.
- Verify compliance with underwriting and carrier standards.
Client & Carrier Communication
- Act as a liaison between insureds, brokers, and insurance carriers.
- Communicate effectively to gather required documentation and resolve outstanding issues.
- Follow up on pending items and escalate issues as needed.
- Issue Resolution; Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and processing errors.
- Coordinate with internal departments and carriers to address and resolve coverage, premium, and policy discrepancies.
Documentation & Data Management
- Maintain organized and accurate underwriting files and databases.
- Input and update policy and client information in agency management systems.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in insurance underwriting support, agency operations, or MGA setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance processes and terminology is a plus.
- Familiarity with policy issuance, endorsements, audits, and invoicing procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn new technologies easily
