Position Summary

Southern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm is seeking a full time Porter to join our dynamic team in Philadelphia, PA.

The Alcott is offering an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about providing world class customer service.  The successful candidate must be energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated to assist in leasing apartment homes and providing exceptional customer service to our current and future residents of our class A luxury community..

The Alcott, located at 5th and Spring Garden Streets, is a 12-story mixed-use property opening in 2024. It will feature 329 rental residences, 111 bicycle stalls, and 87 parking spaces. Amenities include a co-working space, fitness center, dog spa, dog park with a bar, and a resort-style pool with cabanas. The Alcott seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor spaces, situated in an area rich with art, energy, and historic charm.

Primary Responsibilities

• Remove litter and debris daily from all areas of the property (areas include pool area, dumpster area, recreation areas, general grounds, and walkways to, from and in between buildings).
• Trash out vacated apartments (remove abandoned furniture, trash, boxes, etc.)
• Assist in the cleaning, organizing and maintenance of storage rooms.
• Distribute resident and commercial tenant communications as directed.
• Other tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor or General Manager.
• Remove all debris from garage and keep clean
• Empty trash containers and keep clean
• Empty recycling rooms and move recycling material to dumpsters
• Maintain pet park and remove pet waste
• Clean and maintain pet spa
• Maintain compactor, clear trash chute, and swap out dumpsters from compactor when full
• Keep all stairwells clean and free from debris

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

• Solid teamwork skills with flexibility to adjust to changing project requirements and deadlines
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, with co-workers, residents, and vendors
• Ability to anticipate the maintenance needs of the property
• Must be reliable and present a positive, professional image
• Ability to keep sensitive information highly confidential
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to take initiative, use good judgment, demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail, and carry multiple projects through to completion.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize work and ask for further clarification when necessary.
• Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, as well as the ability to deal with frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
• Ability to lift/move 25 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. occasionally
• Possible exposure to changing weather conditions and chemical fumes

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of practical experience
• Fair housing training (we can provide)

Work Conditions

• Indoor, outdoors, and exposed to weather
• Very hot and very cold temperatures (above 90 F degrees and below 32 F degrees)
• Wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection
• Spends time standing, walking, bending, and reaching
• Lifting over 50 lbs.
• Exposure to hazardous conditions
