We invite prospective applicants to apply for the position of HS SCHOOL COUNSELING OFFICE SECRETARY (ANTICIPATED).
ABOUT THE DISTRICT
Southern Lehigh SD serves nearly 3,100 students across five schools, which are highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report (2024). Hopewell and Liberty Bell Elementary Schools are ranked in the Top 10% of all elementary schools in the Commonwealth and each serves a population of more than 350 students in Grades K-3. The Joseph P. Liberati Intermediate School and Southern Lehigh Middle School are ranked in the Top 2% of all middle schools in the Commonwealth and serve over 700 students in Grades 4-6 and nearly 500 students in Grades 7-8. Southern Lehigh High School is ranked in the Top 10% of all high schools—public and private—in the Commonwealth and serves over 1,000 students in Grades 9-12.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
(1) Maintains and updates student information in Infinite Campus (SIS), specifically regarding academic progress, counseling interventions, and post-secondary plans.
(2) May support and maintain building Social Media accounts and routine maintenance of High School Website and Counseling pages.
(3) Maintains confidential student records, including academic transcripts, standardized test scores and counseling records, among others, ensuring compliance with FERPA and other relevant regulations.
(4) Manages and processes student requests for transcripts, letters of recommendation, and other documentation related to college applications, scholarships, and employment.
(5) Assists counselors with the organization and administration of standardized testing (e.g., PSAT, SAT, ACT), college fairs, and other counseling-related events.
(6) Communicates with colleges, universities, and other post-secondary institutions regarding student applications and admissions.
(7) Maintains an inventory of counseling resources, such as brochures, pamphlets, and college catalogs.
(8) Prepares and distributes correspondence, reports, and other materials for the School Counseling Office, including parent newsletters, college information packets, and scholarship announcements.
(9) Manages the School Counseling Office's appointment calendar, scheduling appointments for counselors with students, parents, and outside agencies.
(10) Serves as the first point of contact for students, parents, and community members seeking assistance from the Office of School Counseling, providing a welcoming and supportive environment.
(11) Establishes and maintains positive communications and working relationships with district personnel, students, parents, and the community, specifically regarding counseling services, appointments, and resources.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Minimum of high school diploma or appropriate Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in education, communications, business or related field, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Experience: Minimum two (2) years in a communications and or secretarial capacity; understanding of public school operations and organizational structure preferred.
Miscellaneous: Valid PA Driver’s License for independent travel preferred.
Note: Selected candidates must be able to produce valid [1] PA State Criminal Record Check (ACT 34), [2] FBI Criminal History Record Investigation (ACT 114), [3] PA DHS Child Abuse History Clearance (ACT 151). and [4] PA Arrest/Conviction Report Certification Form (ACT 24) all within one year of issue at the time of hire.
COMPENSATION
$35,304.10 per annum plus benefits.
