Key responsibilities of a patient coordinator include:
- Patient scheduling and check-in:
Managing patient appointments, confirming details, and handling check-in procedures.
- Dental record maintenance:
Accurately keeping patient information up to date.
- Communication:
Relaying patient information to parents/guardians/caretakers, dental providers, doctors, nurses, and other relevant professionals as needed.
- Insurance verification and billing:
Checking insurance coverage, pulling patient service history, reconciling claims, submitting claims, submitting prior authorization for treatment, and submitting referrals through insurance portal when required.
- Patient outreach:
Following up with patients regarding appointments, appointment reminders, missed appointments, and re-care scheduling.
- Administrative tasks:
Maintaining patient demographics, managing waiting lists, and handling phone inquiries.
