What are the responsibilities and job description for the FULL TIME DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL EDUCATION/ INSTRUCTOR (RESPIRATORY THERAPY ) position at Southern Maine Community College?
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITIES AND DUTIES:
- Coordinate the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the respiratory care program.
- Develop, coordinate, and maintain clinical sites to which students are actively training.
- Develop rotation schedules that provide for equal and equable clinical exposure of all students.
- Responsible for planning, implementing, and tracking clinical preceptors assessment of student performance to ensure inter-rater reliability.
- Perform periodic evaluations on each student, identifying competency in specific areas of clinical practice in addition to strengths and weaknesses.
- Maintain documentation for clinical activities.
- Maintain frequent, regular and consistent contact with students, clinical faculty, and clinical affiliates at all program locations.
- Identification and implementation of pedagogical advances to meet the needs of evolving practice standards.
- Assist the Program Director and faculty in strategic planning; including the assessment of student outcomes, overall programmatic success, and maintenance of program and institutional accreditation.
- Maintain an instructional role in the curriculum.
- Participate in student recruitment and advising.
- Participate in committee service at the College.
- Participate in professional development activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned at least a baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE)
- Hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license
- Have a minimum of four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care;
- Have a minimum of two (2) years experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/ preceptor for students of such programs.
START DATE: June 1 August 15, 2025 summer contract, benefited position starts August 18, 2025
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $52,599 - $62,806 (Based on degree)
