What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secretary-Emergency Department position at Southern Maine Health Care?
- Coordinates payroll, time keeping, and scheduling.
- Facilitates scheduling, records minutes, coordinates, and distributes materials for various Committees.
- Coordinates interviews, job shadows, and assists with onboarding.
- Maintains regulatory documentation.
- Facilitates interdepartmental and intradepartmental communications.
- Manage leadership calendars, department records, files, databases, TEAMS groups, staff personnel folders/contents, and other as needed.
- Maintains professional integrity of the Emergency Department.
- The ability to balance competing priorities, maintaining a tactful, courteous, professional manner is essential.
- A high degree of confidentiality must also be maintained.
- Education: High school graduate preferred.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: One to two years of secretarial, medical secretarial experience. Two to five years secretarial experience with one to two years of experience in a health care environment preferred.
- Excellent computer skills required.
- Typing skills with word processing experience with Microsoft Office products.
- Telephone skills.
- Elementary calculator skills.
- Self-motivation and ability to organize and perform responsibilities independently and accurately.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to organize and coordinate multiple activities.
- Able to adapt to constant change and fast pace of group.
- Must be creative and have the ability to anticipate and adapt to current and future challenges.
Position Summary
Performs secretarial duties and provides administrative assistance to the Emergency Department Medical Director, Nurse Manager, Nurse Coordinator, and department staff.
