Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Resident Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to residents in a group home or personal care setting. This position is essential for ensuring the well-being and comfort of individuals with developmental disabilities, promoting their independence, and enhancing their quality of life.
Duties
- Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Provide personal care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Monitor and record vital signs as needed, ensuring the health and safety of residents.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and minimize challenging behaviors.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for all residents.
- Assist with mobility needs, including lifting or transferring residents as required.
- Engage residents in social activities and encourage participation in group programs.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for each resident.
- Document resident progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and experience in a group home setting is a plus.
- Ability to perform personal care tasks while maintaining dignity and respect for residents.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
- Capability to lift and assist residents as needed for mobility support.
- Familiarity with monitoring vital signs is beneficial but not required; training will be provided.
- A genuine passion for helping others and enhancing their quality of life.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary.
