About the Position:
We are currently seeking a Tool Crib Attendant to support our manufacturing operations. This position will be responsible for evaluating cutting tools after use, ordering replacement cutting tools if needed, sending tools out for repair, reviewing tool lists to prepare tools for production runs, and maintaining inventory of the tool crib to facilitate production needs.

SMT specializes in precision machined components and assemblies primarily for the aircraft, aerospace, and defense industries.
We have 21 CNC machines, including 6 horizontal mills (3 of which are on a 23 pallet FMS and 1 has its own 6 pallet system), 1 high speed, 4-axis, vertical mill, 4 vertical mills with capability up to fifth axis positioning, and 8 lathes (some with live tooling). Our 2 most advanced CNC lathes are twin spindle, have twin Y axis turrets with live tooling, and are in a cell with a Fanuc robot.

About the Position:

- Tool Inventory Management:
- Receive, inspect, and catalog all incoming tools and equipment into the tool crib.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of tools, tracking their location and condition.
- Conduct regular audits to reconcile physical inventory.
- Tool Distribution:
- Assist in issuing tools and equipment to machinists and other staff as per work orders and requests.
- Ensure that all tools are properly signed out and returned in a timely manner.
- Monitor and enforce tool check-in and check-out procedures.
- Tool Maintenance and Repair:
- Inspect tools for damage or wear and arrange for maintenance or repair when needed.
- Organizational Duties:
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the tool crib area.
- Implement efficient storage practices to optimize space and accessibility.
- Arrange and label tools in a logical manner for easy retrieval.
- Procurement and Reordering:
- Identify low stock levels and initiate purchase requisitions for new tools or replacements.
- Collaborate with the purchasing department to ensure timely procurement.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while handling tools and equipment.
- Ensure that tools are stored and handled in compliance with safety regulations.
- Record Keeping:
- Keep accurate records of tool movements, issues, returns, and maintenance activities.
Required Proficiencies:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of machining tools and wear characteristics (strongly preferred.)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various teams.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with a team.
- Familiarity with aerospace machining tools and equipment is a plus.
- US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
- Ability to move items weighing up to and exceeding 50 lbs.
- Repetitively sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and feeling. Job does require the use of stairs on a regular basis.
- Talking and hearing.
- Visual acuity-near and far, depth perception, field of vision, color vision.

- Complex internal and external deburring and finishing under 10-40x magnification
- Process to create precision .0005" tolerance bores with less than 16 microfinish, and 11 sigma capability
- Precision surface treatment applications that eliminate the need for masking when parts require a combination of anodize and chemfilm, which results in clear and consistent edges every time.
