Tug Captain

TUG CAPTAIN - EXPERIENCED

Southern Maritime Services is currently looking for an ambitious Towing Vessel Captain - Experienced in both heavy civil and marine construction preferred.

NOTE -

· This is NOT a rotational schedule - employee will go home at the end of each day.

· Candidate must live within reasonable distance to Savannah GA

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

· Experience pushing crane and deck barges

· Outstanding leadership and motivational skills

· Strong communication skills

· Plan, implement and manage construction tasks according to priorities and goals

· Manage and monitor crew attendance and work performance

· Delegate daily tasks to crew to ensure operational readiness

· Manage crew schedules and logistics

· Supervise, train, mentor and provide feedback to crewmembers

· Utilizing various hand tools

· Ensure vessel(s) have all required resources

· Loading and unloading equipment

· Maintain equipment in proper working order

· Critical thinker and problem solver, both independently and within a team

· Work as directed by Senior Management

· Attend job site and company safety meetings

· Adhere to the company’s high standards of safety protocols

Qualifications:

· Must have 10 years experience with a minimum of 5 years experience in a Captain’s role

· Must have a minimum of 5 years experience managing crews

· Must possess a current Master of Towing or Mate of Tow Pilot / Inland and / or Near Coastal endorsement on current MMC

· Must possess a current TWIC

· Ability to work 12 hour watches Monday – Friday with occasional weekend availability as needed

· Ability to tolerate rough seas, vibrations, heat, harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, and high noise levels

· CPR / First Aid / AED Certified preferred

· Good time management skills

· Ability to multi-task

· Must pass a pre-employment physical

· Must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings

· Must pass a background check

· Must have a valid driver’s license

· Must have reliable transportation to / from assigned job sites

· Must live or relocate within reasonable commute to / from Savannah GA

· Must be flexible and available to work all shifts including overtime when required

Physical Requirement:

· Individuals will frequently be required to push, pull, bend, or stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl and or stoop for long periods of time.

· Must be able to lift or carry equipment, supplies and / or parts up to 75 lbs unassisted.
