What are the responsibilities and job description for the Directional Drill Operators and Locators position at Southern Maryland Cable, Inc.?
Summary: Southern Maryland Cable, Inc., a well-established company in Southern Maryland is seeking experienced HDD Operators and Locators in the Southern Maryland Area. This position is responsible for operating Drill and/or Locator Equipment, and small dirt equipment, as well as performing other duties as required for each directional bore project.
Essential Job Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently setup and operate HDD equipment to maximize daily productivity and quality.
- Highly experienced and skilled drilling all sizes of conduit up to 8”
- Monitor locating process and equipment during the drilling phases
- Provide resolution to diverse scope of problems that may arise at drill site
- Add or remove drill rods
- Carry out basic maintenance of drills, including lubricating and cleaning and report any mechanical issues to manager
- Operate other equipment as necessary including trenchers, mini excavators, and backhoes
- Mobilize equipment, including loading, unloading, setup and tear down and must have CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement license
- Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism when working directly with customers, vendors/suppliers and subcontractors
- Take direction easily and respect changes in priorities and timing as requested by OSP Director
- Perform other duties as assigned with positive attitude
- Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- 1-5 years’ experience operating HDD equipment
- CDL Class A Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement
- Must be able to work in a team environment with excellent communication skills
- Enjoy working outdoors in varying elements
- Able to work in confined spaces
- Safe performance record
- Clean driving record
- Able to pass pre-employment as well as random company drug testing
Competitive benefits package offered includes PTO, Holidays, health, dental, disability and 401(k). Salary range $75k - $82k year. Qualified candidates to receive sign on bonus up to $2500 after 90 probation period.
