Job Overview
The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill multiple vacancies for the classification of Environmental Health Specialist I / II in the Environmental Health Division. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to four (4) months.
To conduct routine inspections of public facilities in order to ensure compliance with Clark County and Nevada state laws and regulations governing Environmental Health and Safety; to prepare inspection reports and issue notices of violations and needed corrections; to respond to citizen complaints as they relate to facilities, operations and conditions under the jurisdiction of the Health District; to protect the public against disease, sickness, illness and / or injury; to investigate environmental health-related epidemiological complaints; to collect samples for laboratory evaluation.

The current vacancy is in Food Operations . However, the Eligibility List created from this recruitment will fill vacancies across all Environmental Health programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Environmental Health Specialist I
Education and Training :
- Must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree which includes the satisfactory completion at least 45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of academic work in basic science courses, including biology, chemistry, physics, environmental health, epidemiology, public health, geology, sanitary engineering or environmental engineering, from an institution of higher education approved by the Board of Registered Environmental Health Specialists (BoREHS).
