What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Educator I position at Southern Nevada Health District?
The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) announces an examination process to create an eligibility list to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Health Educator I in the Community Health Division. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification in the Community Health Division, the Office of Chronic Disease and Health Promotion, for up to four (4) months.
This position assists in planning, developing, implementing, promoting, and evaluating individual and comprehensive community health education programs; conducts community health assessments; provides technical and in-service training; and performs related work as required.
This position is funded by a grant and the continuation of the position depends on the availability of grant funds and the business requirements of SNHD. If the funding is discontinued or becomes unavailable, your employment may be terminated without the right to appeal.
This position will be working within the office of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.

HEALTH EDUCATOR I
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in community health education, public health education, nutrition, communications, psychology, or a closely related field, OR equivalent combination or related education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Valid Nevada driver’s license, or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
- FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) training for 100, 200, 700, and 800 within six (6) months of date of hire.
- Certified Health Education Specialist (C.H.E.S.) certification preferred.
- Bilingual desirable
- Masters degree in Public Health related field desirable
