Partially funded by grants from various organizations, SLP has served over 100,000 seniors with services including Estate Planning, Healthcare Directives, and Elder Law Rights.
Role Description
As an Intake Specialist/Legal Assistant, you will be instrumental in supporting our law office by managing the incoming calls, greeting guests, providing seniors with excellent customer care, performing multiple duties with precision, and demonstrating attention to detail. This role, preferably bilingual in English/Spanish requires strong legal administrative experience and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word. Your core skills in document review and electronic case management, along with knowledge in areas such as estate planning and public entitlements, will enhance our team's efficiency. We expect you to deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining organizational excellence in a dynamic legal environment.
Responsibilities include managing a high volume of incoming calls and online requests for information; scheduling appointments and providing reminders to clients; greeting and assisting clients in person; gathering demographic and contact information; assessing clients’ legal issues to discern area(s) of law and attorney assignment; opening case files; organizing, compiling and scanning documents into client case files; entering accurate legal codes and case notes into the case management system; providing notarization of documents if certified; and if bilingual, providing effective translating and interpreting, including legal concepts and terms in both languages.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Proficient in Microsoft applications and capable of using case management software
- Case Management or Legal Assistant experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Experience in a legal setting or nonprofit organization is a plus
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred
- Affinity for helping seniors
