Position Title: Program Associate – Search and Call
Reports to: Executive Minister, Area Conference Ministry

Program Associate positions with the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ (SNE) assists with the day-to-day operations of their assigned Conference team. Program Associates provide administrative and clerical support for various team activities, such as event coordination, communication(s) to participants of events, and accounts receivable for specific events and groups.
Position Summary
The Program Associate for Search and Call manages all the processes related to Search and Call, the way that local churches and clergy discern mutual ministry in the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ. The ideal candidate is both highly organized and highly relational.
The Area Conference Ministry Team provides care and connection to the almost 600 churches, 25 Associations and 1,400 clergy of the Southern New England Conference. Serving at the crossroads of what has been, what is, and what will be, the ACM Team facilitates adaptive change while maintaining covenantal processes that already exist. Search and Call is the process by which local churches and clergy discern mutual ministry.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages databases related to Search and Call (ex: Brick River, UCC Profile Portal), ensuring that information is entered, processed and updated consistently and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other ACM team members, National UCC staff, other UCC Conferences and Non-UCC denominational leaders to ensure Search & Call processes are working in covenant.
- Communicates regularly with local church search committees via phone and email to provide resources, answer questions and coach them in navigating the Search & Call process.
- In collaboration with Area Conference Ministers, plans, promotes and facilitates training opportunities for local church leaders and clergy.
- Manages the Temporary Ministerial Coverage List and the Non-UCC Clergy Application, providing instructions to, collecting applications from and running back background checks on clergy.
Conference-Sponsored Events
- The Program Associate – Search and Call will be required to participate in Conference- Sponsored events throughout the year.

Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent required; some higher education preferred.
- Strong organizational and database skills required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Verbal Aptitude - Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data, and information.
Mathematical Aptitude - Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to calculate decimals and percentages; may require ability to utilize principles of fractions and/or interpret graphs.
Functional Reasoning - Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as: motivation, incentive, and leadership. Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.
Situational Reasoning - Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness, and creativity required in situations involving the evaluation of information against sensory, judgmental, or subjective criteria, as opposed to that which is clearly measurable or verifiable.
