SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:

The Medical Assistant for SoNE HEALTH Medical Group/Bear Pond Family Medicine and Pediatrics will primarily provide clinical administrative support to the Provider and the team. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for the clinical nurse triage line for patients calling for medical needs. This position will also complete medical forms, medication and authorizations as directed by the Provider. This position may, from time to time, also provide direct patient care with clinical tasks ranging from patient assessments, preparation of vaccinations, point of care testing, and performing EKG/Spirometry.

This position requires strong computer skills, attention to detail, a positive professional attitude, and the ability to work in a team environment. 

This position is in Enfield, CT. 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Monitor nurse line & respond to clinical calls

  • Obtain medication and radiology authorizations
  • Complete physical forms, school medication forms, disability paperwork, & all other clinical documentation & forms as needed for patients
  • Review upcoming appointments to anticipate needs, supplies, & completeness
  • Order labs for patients with upcoming appointments and contact patients, as necessary
  • Monitor incoming patient portal messages & return patient calls, as delegated by Provider
  • Follow up with referrals to ensure patient has been contacted
  • Prepare & process patient nebulizer order forms monthly
  • Prepare labs/cultures/specimens to be sent out for testing i.e., confirm labels on specimen, follow office & lab protocols & procedures for transport & processing, ensure labs are placed in outside bin for pick-up on time
  • If LPN is unavailable, prepare vaccinations and, if certified, give vaccinations 
  •  Monitor EMR in-basket daily & return patient calls, as delegated by Provider.
  • Monitor HIPAA compliant text line (Doctible) & respond to patient inquiries
  • Maintain eyewash station per policies & protocol including testing, cleaning, & reporting.
  • Cover clinical staff vacations, sick time, or other time off to include patient care tasks: i.e.. rooming, triage, vitals, POCT testing, assist provider with in-office procedures, etc.
  • Other duties/small projects as delegated by the Office Manager or Provider, within the employee’s legal & personal capabilities.

  Other Functions:

 Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  1.  CMA or RMA required with vaccine certification preferred  
  2. Minimum of 2 years primary care office experience required

  • Ability to transport and/or maneuver objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • The dexterity necessary to utilize a computer keyboard regularly is essential.
  • Busy work environment subject to frequent interruptions and shifting potentially conflicting priorities.

 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 As a condition of employment at SoNE HEALTH, all employees must reside in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, or Massachusetts.
