The opportunity

As an Associate Dean (AD), STEM, Computer Science you are a full-time member of university staff responsible for supporting the operational needs, strategic direction, and STEM-related programs of Southern New Hampshire University's online Global Campus (GC). Associate Deans (ADs) manage operational-level work, projects. The AD collaborates across departments and monitors discipline, industry, and higher education trends to provide a high-quality student, faculty, and academic experience. You will report to a Senior Associate Dean or Executive Director.

You'll have deep subject-specific knowledge in their assigned programs and can help implement projects through their knowledge, strengths, and skills, while ensuring the daily health of academic programs. The AD builds cross-functional team support, identifies opportunities to increase operational efficiency and programmatic innovation.

You'll get to:

  • Promote learner success and quality within designated programs, courses, and content through data-informed decisions.
  • Maintain successful programs and curriculum through oversight, ensuring efficient curriculum delivery and curriculum relevancy.
  • Assure the achievement of necessary institutional and programmatic benchmarks and performance indicators with analytical support and discipline.
  • Collaborate with instructional and curriculum design teams to ensure learning theory and best practices are applied to program and course development.
  • Help design new learning models that are flexible and scalable to support the needs of tomorrow's learners and address important issues such as affordability, access, and speed to completion
  • Ensure that assigned programs meet programmatic and institutional accreditation standards and institutional policies and governance requirements.
  • Lead collaborative efforts across departments to support learner, faculty, and graduate success and program growth.
  • Conduct environmental scanning and research in collaboration with internal and external partners to identify trends and inform actions to increase programmatic success.
  • Support improvements in processes to increase automation, improve data and reporting, ability to grow, reduce cost, and better support collaboration between partners.
  • Participate in professional development activities that support professional growth and the development of a national presence within the discipline area specifically and higher education generally.
  • Implement practices that embody SNHU's core values of putting people first, engaging in learning, promoting equity, setting the right pace, and embracing collaboration.
  • Attend events such as graduation ceremonies in New Hampshire, at least once per year.

  • Make informed decisions by using relevant information and resources, staying current on evolving trends in industry, demonstrating discipline and responsible stewardship of the computer science program.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, operational and process efficiency, and a commitment to relevant academic portfolios.
  • Contribute to team development by sharing experience and advocate for additional learning opportunities.

What we're looking for:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Application Development, Computer Engineering or related degree an accredited higher education institution.
  • Industry experience in software development using more than one object-oriented programming languages to include: Java, C , JavaScript/Typescript or Python.
  • Game programming experience in Unity (C#) or Unreal (C ).
  • Proficiency in Assembly Language or embedded programming,
  • Experience in full stack application development.
  • Understand how AI is used in the software development process.
  • At least 3 years of related experience working in higher education.
  • Mentor and support computer science faculty, providing technical expertise with course content.
  • Knowledge of environmental forces within the higher education environment.
  • Experience identifying software industry trends and strategizing curriculum updates accordingly.
  • Understanding of the foundations of learning science and the main reasons for student success

Compensation

The annual pay range for this position is $83,071.00 - $132,940.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $91,794.00 - $124,192.00.
