Overview
This position requires a detail-oriented individual who can effectively handle billing inquiries, process payments, and ensure accurate financial record-keeping. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial concepts and be adept at using financial software to support patient account management.
Duties
- Contact insurance companies for insurance verification and utilize web portals as needed.
- Counsel Obstetrical and Surgical patients on insurance benefits-- be able to explain in detail and answer questions.
- Calculate OB Fees and Surgery Deposits based on insurance benefits.
- Confirm Prior Authorizations are obtained for OB and Surgical procedures.
- Document accounts with accurate benefit information.
- Mail letters to patients with insurance information.
- Complete necessary paperwork for OB and Surgery patients.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly to patients, insurance carriers, and staff.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High School Diploma, Undergraduate Degree Preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance and healthcare billing.
- Experience with medical billing and coding preferred.
- Working knowledge of ICD10, CPT-4, HCPCS, Modifiers.
- Demonstrate extensive understanding of insurance plans and benefits (PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, and Indemnity) required.
- Possess knowledge, skill and ability to operate a PC, applications, software, telephone, fax, scanner, and copier.
- Possess and demonstrate professional telephone demeanor and appearance.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook, ability to key 40 WPM.
- Interacts successfully with all levels of staff and management; responds positively to direction and supervision.
This role is essential for ensuring that patients receive clear communication regarding their accounts while maintaining the integrity of the healthcare provider's financial operations.
