Job Duties:
- Loads, unloads, and transfers materials (household goods, furniture, appliances, etc.) using tote boxes, hand trucks, carts, and other material handling equipment, as available.
- Quality checks donations at time of pick up and uses good judgment and tact when turning down items.
- Sorts incoming materials and maintains strict quality control standards showing good judgment on all donations as they come into the system (i.e., salvage or store quality).
- Operates baler, compactor, truck lift gate, conveyor and other departmental machinery as assigned.
- Assists customers with donations, unloads vehicles, and provides receipts.
- Secures donations and Goodwill property to prevent theft and vandalism.
- Opens/closes and prepares work area for workday.
- Works weekends and other schedules as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned that would lead to successful operation of department, team and/or mission.
- Exercise judgment, resourcefulness, ingenuity, and initiative. Technical skills include a good understanding of and ability to operate a variety of departmental equipment.
- Efficiently perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to work at usually hectic pace with irregular short deadlines and limited number of critical or unusual situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
