Position Summary
The Truck Driver is responsible for conducting store, business, and organizational pick-ups and deliveries, and makes decisions about the quality of donations at the pickup site. When not on route, the Truck Driver will perform warehouse duties as assigned.

The Truck Driver is responsible for conducting store, business, and organizational pick-ups and deliveries, and makes decisions about the quality of donations at the pickup site. When not on route, the Truck Driver will perform warehouse duties as assigned.
Essential Responsibilities
- Operates 26,000 pound or similar truck on pre-determined route to make deliveries and pick-ups.
- Safely loads, unloads and transfers materials (household goods, furniture, appliances, etc.) using tote boxes, hand trucks, carts, forklifts, and other material handling equipment, as available.
- A Truck Driver, or Transporter, is responsible for transporting goods from one location to another. Their job duties include loading their vehicles, abiding by traffic laws, and ensuring safe unloading and delivery at their destination.
- Reads maps and direction sheets. Prepares logs, reports, receipts, and other forms as needed.
- Operates baler, compactor, forklift (receives certification), truck liftgate and other departmental machinery as assigned.
- Verifying loads for accuracy
- Conducts general housekeeping functions, such as vacuuming, sweeping outside areas, dusting, and rest room maintenance.
- Safely and correctly operates other departmental machinery as assigned.
- Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incident of theft, fraud, waste, or unauthorized possession of company property.
- Secures cargo and proper arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
- Reporting defects, accidents, and violations
- Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports
- Performing daily maintenance of truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.)
- Interacts effectively with customers by providing excellent customer service, resolving problems within the scope of the role to the customer’s satisfaction in a timely, effective, and respectful manner.
- Safeguards company property, including donated goods. Reports any incident of theft, fraud, waste, or unauthorized possession of company property.
- Work in a variety of situations, sometimes in closed or congested areas. Includes driving in city, country and freeway driving in all weather conditions.
- Adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands; change approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Works intermittently without direct supervision.
- Performs duties in a manner that promotes team concept and reflects Goodwill’s mission and ethics, in accordance with all Goodwill policies, procedures, codes of conduct, CARF standards, and accepted business practices.
- Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principles of safety, loss prevention and risk management for self and others into daily activities and ensures participation in Goodwill safety programs. Attends required safety training and will participate in safety drills and exercises.
- Requires punctual and regular attendance. Time away from work is approved and taken in accordance with established policies.

- Speak and understand the English language sufficient to read materials, communicate with customers and coworkers.
- Able to maintain the physical requirements of the working environment.
- Perform simple mathematical calculations.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two (2) recent years professional paid driving experience (i.e., delivery vehicle, school bus, etc).
- Requires valid Class A Oregon driver’s license and clean driving record for the past five years.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Experience in moving furniture or material handling desirable. Experience working in a team environment desirable.
- Knowledge of basic driving regulations for state, and federal laws regarding vehicle use.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Previous warehouse or comparable experience preferred.
- Current Oregon Driver’s License. Clear driving record for past five year

- Medium physical demand level. While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Frequently required to walk and/or stands for up to 8 hours per day. Must regularly lift, carry, and/or move up to 20 pounds and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to push/pull and carry up to 30 pounds. Kneels, stoops, and bends frequently. Occasional need to push heavy, wheeled carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and other material handling equipment with loads weighing up to 250 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- Local and regional travel is required.
- Work is performed primarily indoors in a climate-controlled space. May occasionally perform work in outside weather conditions.
