POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Summer Instructional Coordinator must be enthusiastic, enjoy working with youth, and have a strong sense of how to work as a team member. This position requires time management and organization skills, and the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. The Summer Instructional Coordinator must model responsible behavior including punctuality, appropriate attire, focus on the task at hand, and diffusion of drama. People skills, ability to work well with a variety of people including guest instructors, parents, students age 8 - 14, and SOU staff from across campus. A strong work ethic is also a core component of this position.
Minimum Requirements
Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; and
Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.
Preferred Requirements
College coursework and/or experience in supporting complex multi-site programs.
Experience working with students with disabilities.
Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.
Experience successfully supporting classroom instructors, workshops or special events.
Experience effectively using word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
Essential Functions
Duties - The following examples are typical work activities that are meant to illustrate the general range of work functions and are not meant to be all-inclusive or restrictive:
(50%) Duties Include
Coordinate, and implement summer enrichment classes/day camps held at multiple classrooms across campus.
Support the recruitment of instructional staff.
Generate room requests, reserve, computer labs, software, and login requests.
Order and track class supplies.
Prepare, and administer student course evaluations.
Communicate with instructors about all aspects of their courses.
(40%) Duties Include
Supervise summer enrichment classes/day camps held across the SOU campus.
Act as primary site supervisor for instructors while classes are in session.
Help troubleshoot during camp programs.
Act as primary contact for parents and guardians in all aspects of day camp.
Coordinate with Associate Director regarding potential changes in program offerings as conflicts arise.
Utilizing SOU Youth Program's established emergency protocols, and in collaboration with Youth Programs Management team, act as main contact and liaison for Instructors and Families in the instance of an emergency either on campus or in our region that may affect the smooth running of classes. Training is provided.
(10%) Duties Include
Collect information and data from instructors - attendance records, class evaluations, supply lists (what was used, what remains unused).
Maintain accurate records.

Excellent communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism to effectively handle a broad range of sensitive interpersonal situations.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and consistently apply a wide variety of complex policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not always exist.
Expressed ability to work with frequent changes in policies and procedures, under pressure of deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
