Job Summary:
Southern Parallel Forest Products in Albertville, AL is currently in search for experienced Millwright Maintenance Mechanics to complete general plant maintenance, troubleshoot maintenance problems and perform in-depth Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairs. This position is for an experienced Millwright Technician who will be responsible for completing scheduled and routine maintenance work along with performing many other duties, both as part of a team and independently. Duties for Millwright include, but are not restricted to, repair, preventative and predictive maintenance.
Position Responsibilities:
- Obtain daily work orders
- Read blueprints and schematic drawings
- Dismantle machines as needed
- Move machinery and equipment using crane, hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
- Assemble and install equipment
- Install machinery and equipment according to lay-out plan, blue prints and other drawings
- Utilize hoists, lift trucks, hand tools and power tools
- Operate cranes, fork lifts and other like equipment
- Align machines and equipment using hoist jacks, hand tools and dial indicators
- Install machinery; new and existing equipment
- Knowledge of proper lubrication of equipment
- Refurbish and maintain valves, pumps, gear boxes, bearings, conveyors
- Basic computer skills
- Measure for bearing clearances and shaft diameters
- Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues
- Fabricate structural materials as needed
- Assist electrical craft as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required
- 3 or more years of verifiable experience as an Industrial Millwright Technician is required
- Willing and capable of working all shifts
- Experience in Heavy Industrial Maintenance
- Must possess high standards in the areas of safety, quality, ethics, craftsmanship and leadership
Plus: Must be willing to meet the following requirements:
- Must satisfactorily pass pre-employment assessment testing
- Undergo a pre-employment and periodic random drug screen as a condition of employment
- Work any shift including weekends and holidays on a regular basis
- Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
- Wear all required safety equipment and PPE
- Continue to develop skills to become a multi-skill mechanic (including millwright, welding and other fields as needed
- Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e., warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise and heavy machinery or elevated work surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection
