Overview
SPPI is looking for an experienced, safety oriented, detailed driven Foreman to lead their crew in the installation of process piping in manufacturing and industrial settings. The foreman should be well versed in the installation of C.S., S.S., PVC, Pressed Pipe, and copper piping. He/she should know how to use various installation methods such as threaded pipe, tig and stick welding, soldering and pressed piping installation. As a Foreman, you will be responsible for communication between the customer and your Project Manager, guiding your team on a daily basis to complete project deadlines on time, and completing daily paperwork such as JSAs, weekly tailgate meetings and daily work summaries.
Our average job site is within a 70 mile radius of Charlotte, NC. We also have out of town work throughout the year.

Duties
- Organize and execute daily and weekly work plans for your crew
- Supervise trade crews and subcontractors to ensure work is installed correctly, safely and on time
- Read and understand contract drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Work with Project Managers, Customer, Project Engineers, and other contractors, to execute the project
- Enforce all OSHA and customer required safety regulations
- Inform the Project Manager and customer of installation conflicts, drawing interpretation problems, interferences, scheduling issues, and quality control issues
- Manage materials, equipment, and labor to ensure the project’s budget and timelines are met
- Mentor crew members to motivate them to do their work in a professional manner, and foster the skills of each crew member to continue to grow their talents (and help you execute your job successfully)
- Keep accurate notes, records, sketches, daily reports, and field books to describe and verify the planned work; as well as the completed work that will be incorporated into the project's record documents
- Demonstrate good people skills and have the ability to build trust, be a good teacher, and display good communication
- Fill out time sheets, daily work summaries, JSAs, incident/accident reports and Change Order forms properly.
- Keep company issued truck, tools, and equipment serviced and clean
- Enter time and documentation into a construction management app such as Contractors Foreman
- Safely and responsibly drive your company issued work truck to and from the job site, and coordinate with the SPPI office to set up maintenance and repair appointments.
- All other duties as needed and assigned by management
Qualifications
- 2 years experience as a Foreman and/or Leadman in process piping
- 5 year’s experience as a pipe fitter on all piping mediums including stainless steel, carbon steel, PVC, copper, and various types of tubing. This experience should include "in field" welding and threaded pipe connections.
- 2 year’s experience pipe welding
- a good understanding of metal fabrication such as platforms, specialty guards, bollards, handrails, stairs, etc
- a good understanding of mechanical maintenance work such as rack installation, steam trap maintenance, lube system maintenance, etc
- a good understanding of basic millwright work such as installing pumps, setting tanks, moving equipment, etc
Requirements
- clean driving record – no DUI’s within six years. No more than three speeding tickets in four years.
- Two work history references
- Clean background
- Clean drug test
- Clean safety record
- The ability to communicate via cell phone and email
- The ability to be reached by phone, especially during working hours
- the ability to lift over 40 lbs and walk long distances, this is a physical job that will require your ability to physically do the work alongside your crew.
All employees must have required PPE which includes steel toe work boots, a hard hat, and safety glasses according to OSHA and ANSI standards.

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
