SUMMARY
The Southern Queens Parks Association is looking for dynamic individuals, who are bilingual in Spanish and English, to join the team as Youth Advocates at the New Prep MS. 8 Community Schools program. We are hiring for two positions and this role is ideal for those who do well promoting good learning habits, good communication skills and a positive self-esteem to school-age scholars. The youth advocate will provide mentoring and instructional support in ELA, Mathematics and STEM to middle students during the academic school year.
Primary Job Duties :
- Proficient in Middle School English Language Arts and Mathematics
- Provide 4-5 hours daily classroom instruction in ELA, Math, Social Studies and Science to Middle School students.
- Work closely with teachers to develop individualized tutorial content.
- Assess student progress on a regular basis.
- Develop authentic relationships with families through weekly phone calls and updates.
- Attend and outreach all families and parents to attend school events and meetings.
- Create opportunities to connect with families on an ongoing basis.
- Lead Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons.
- Monitor student's classroom attendance and assist in classroom outreach.
- Assist with school operations throughout the day including monitoring hallways and stairwells supervising student lunch and assisting with other activities.
- Complete lesson plans. daily reports and other assigned documents.
- Attend meetings and staff development.
- Mentoring students through mentoring program.
