About Us: Through rent-free housing and cooperative living, Southern Scholarship Foundation (SSF) supports students who lack financial resources, demonstrate excellent academic merit, and exemplify good character while attending institutions of higher education. Since 1955, SSF has helped students achieve their dreams of attending their choice university through our partnerships at Florida Gulf Coast University, University of Florida, Santa Fe College, Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Tallahassee State College. While SSF does not provide monetary-based scholarships, we offer rent-free homes located near our partner institutions. We currently have 26 homes statewide and serve 470 students.
About this position: The Student Life and Leadership Manager is responsible for fostering a positive living-learning environment for students in Southern Scholarship Foundation homes. This role provides direct support to students, oversees house operations, enforces policies, and develops leadership programs to ensure student success. Responsibilities extend to ensuring smooth scholarship house operations, addressing student concerns, on-call responsibilities for emergencies, and serving as a liaison with external services for approximately 280 residents across 16 scholarship houses in Tallahassee. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience working with college students.

Essential Tasks of the Student Life and Leadership Manager:
Student Support and Leadership Development
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students, ensuring they have access to academic, financial, and emotional support resources.
- Serve as the main point of contact for prospective students, parents, high schools, and recruitment partners, including outreach efforts.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies in collaboration with SSF staff.
- Organize and lead orientation sessions for new students each semester.
- Oversee House Managers and Ambassadors, conducting regular check-ins and leadership training.
- Plan and lead leadership development programs and student engagement activities.
- Enforce the Resident Handbook and Community Standards, ensuring a safe and respectful living environment.
- Address student concerns, mediate conflicts, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Serve as the main liaison between students and external support services, including mental health resources and educational institutions.
- Lead monthly House Manager meetings and assist in student success initiatives.
- Collaborate with Student Life support staff.
- Supervise 2-3 part time Student Life Assistants.
Scholarship House and Community Management
- Conduct routine house visits to ensure efficient house operations and compliance with policies.
- Support House Treasurers with budgeting, utilities, and house-related responsibilities.
- Collaborate with maintenance staff to address facility needs.
- Facilitate community-building efforts among SSF residents.
On-Call and Emergency Support
- Serve in an on-call rotation for emergency situations, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Respond to student crises and coordinate with university services, law enforcement, or emergency responders as necessary.
Administrative Tasks
- Collaborate with development and communications staff.
- Prepare materials for Student Affairs Committee of the Board.
