What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Worker position at Southern Tech?
Purpose of Job: Food preparation and presentation for staff and on-site catering at SouthernTech.
I. Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
A. Essential Functions of the Job:
1. Supports and promotes the SouthernTech adopted quality initiatives including the Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.
2. Recommends new approaches and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
3. Supports and assists in development and execution of the SouthernTech strategic plan.
4. Assist with grill orders and drink area.
5. Assist with service line and register.
6. Follows safe and sanitary regulations and procedures in the use of equipment and supplies.
7. Set-up, tear down of cafeteria area and on-site catering seminar area.
8. Assist with the preparation of food in a sanitary environment maintaining health codes as required.
9. Assist with the on-site catering services to on-site meetings and events.
10. Run break van as needed.

III. Education, Knowledge, Skill, & Experience Requirements:

A. Education and Experience:
1. High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
2. Must possess ServeSafe Food Handlers certification or be willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
3. CareerTech Culinary Arts certification preferred.
4. Six months to one-year experience in food preparation and handling preferred.
B. Knowledge and Skills:
1. Ability to assist with the management of a kitchen and supervision of personnel
2. Ability to perform under pressure.

2. Must have close, distant, color, peripheral, and depth vision. Must have the ability to adjust focus.
3. Must have the ability to sit, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
4. Be able to properly and legally operate a school vehicle as required to
travel on behalf of the district.
5. Will frequently be required to lift or move objects up to 50 lbs. and
occasionally push, pull or move objects up to 100 lbs.
