Purpose of Job:

Direction, development and coordination of selected full-time programs (per organizational chart) for SouthernTech in accordance with policies and regulations, current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing SouthernTech.


Major Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:


A. Essential Functions of the Job:

Administration

  • Supports and promotes the SouthernTech adopted quality initiatives including the Baldrige criteria, Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation criteria, Tech Centers That Work, and Lean Office.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continuous improvements in services to customers.
  • Supports and assists in the development and execution of the SouthernTech strategic plan.
  • Provide guidance to and support professional development to all instructors and staff members.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for employees and students.

Departmental Responsibility

  • Supervise and provide instructional leadership and evaluation to assigned programs, instructors, and office staff.
  • Supervise all students in Full-Time Programs assigned via the Organizational Chart.
  • Administer budgets and purchases for assigned programs and special projects.
  • Supervise and monitor advisory board members and evaluate their recommendations.
  • Work to obtain certifications at the national level for all assigned programs
  • Assist with Rigorous Curriculum Design for assigned programs.
  • Manage and resolve student conflict.
  • TCTW Coordination

Partnerships

  • Travel to high schools within the SouthernTech district as needed.
  • Present programs to various outside organizations
  • Maintain partnership with state universities.

New Program Development

  • Research, development and implementation of new training programs including curriculum, facilities, funding, staff/certification, budget, accreditation issues, state department approval, etc.

B. Secondary Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities

  • Provide technical information to other specialists
  • Serve on various SouthernTech and other committees

Other:

  • Perform other duties, assume responsibilities and exercise other authority as may be required or directed upon by law, the SouthernTech Deputy Superintendent or the SouthernTech Superintendent.

Authority of the Position:

  • Authority to use discretion, judgment, and knowledge according to federal and state law, school policy, and administrative regulations, by assignment and approval the District Superintendent.

Education, Knowledge, Skill, & Experience Requirements:


Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Education required.
  • OSDE Secondary Principal’s Certification required.
  • Must possess CareerTech Administrator Credential or be willing to obtain in accordance with ODCTE guidelines.
  • Minimum of three-five years’ experience in a Career Technology Center as a teacher, administrator or supervisor of an approved CareerTech program.
  • Five years technical teaching experience preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of Rigorous Curriculum Design.
  • Working knowledge of computerized office programs, Oklahoma School Law, federal and state laws, and the SouthernTech education system.
  • Function as an effective SouthernTech team player.
  • Ability to function professionally during high stress situations.
  • Ability to implement, facilitate, and complete multiple projects in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Physical & Mental Requirements:


Physical Requirements

  • Sit for extended periods.
  • Manipulate computer keyboard.
  • Keen hearing
  • Ability to listen to others.
  • Vision: Close and distance vision required.
  • Be able to communicate.
  • Be able to properly and legally operate a school vehicle as required to travel on behalf of the district.
  • Regularly lifts up to 25 lbs. (occasionally up to 50 lbs.).
  • Ability to bend and stoop.

Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to read directions, instructions, both written, and spoken.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community and the Board of Education.
  • Ability to write documents and effectively present information.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to function professionally during high stress situations.
  • Ability to implement, facilitate, and complete multiple projects in a timely and efficient manner.

Work Environment:

Primarily an office environment; occasionally walking or working near moving mechanical equipment, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. Occasional out of district/state overnight travel is required.
