What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant Extern Coordinator position at Southern Technical College?
The Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to coordinate with students and employers for externship opportunities that will lead to job placement within the Medical Assistant program. Candidates must have at least 4 years of related practical work experience as a Medical Assistant. Experience as an externship coordinator and recruiting a plus.
Externship Duties:
· Arrange externships for all students.
· Provide student orientation and assistance in completing all necessary paperwork prior to the start of externships.
· Establish new externship sites via site visits and cold calling
· Conduct site visits to monitor all students
· Conduct evaluation of student progress and provide final grades for externship course
· Conduct evaluation of externship sites to determine suitability for student experience
· Serves as a resource for graduates and employers in job placement
· Conduct graduate and employer surveys to obtain data on job placements and recommendations for improvements of curriculum.
· Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
· Associate Degree in Medical Assisting and;
· Must have at least four years of related practical work experience
· Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills
Detailed oriented with data input abilities
· Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings
Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous teaching experience
