Security Monitor (Overnight)

Job Overview:
We are looking for a responsible and observant Overnight Security Monitor to oversee and ensure the safety and security of our facility during overnight hours. This role requires someone with a keen eye for detail, the ability to respond to emergencies quickly, and the capacity to monitor surveillance systems effectively. The Overnight Security Monitor will serve as the first line of defense for any incidents or disturbances during non-business hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Surveillance Monitoring:
• Monitor CCTV systems and other surveillance equipment to detect suspicious activities and ensure the safety of the premises.
• Regularly patrol the facility, including both interior and exterior areas, to identify any security concerns.
• Incident Response:
• Respond to alarms or security breaches, assess the situation, and take appropriate action, including notifying local authorities if necessary.
• Manage emergency situations calmly and efficiently, following company protocols.
• Access Control:
• Ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed access to secure areas, using key cards, badges, or other systems as necessary.
• Monitor visitor logs, and escort unauthorized persons off the premises if needed.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of incidents, observations, and activities during the overnight shift.
• Prepare detailed reports for management on security issues, incidents, and unusual occurrences.
• Safety Inspections:
• Conduct routine safety inspections, including checking fire exits, lighting, and security equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Report any issues with equipment or infrastructure to the relevant departments for maintenance.
• Patrol Duties:
• Regularly walk the premises to inspect buildings, parking lots, gates, and fences for signs of security breaches, damage, or unusual activity.
• Ensure that all doors, windows, and other access points are securely locked and monitored.
• Communication:
• Maintain clear communication with management, staff, and emergency responders, as needed.
• Provide periodic updates and status reports regarding security conditions.
• Customer Service:
• Assist employees or visitors with any inquiries, directions, or concerns while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Act as a visible presence on-site to deter potential criminal activities.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional security or law enforcement training is a plus.
• Experience:
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a similar role preferred.
• Experience with surveillance equipment or security systems is advantageous.
• Skills & Competencies:
• Strong observation and attention to detail.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer skills for logging incidents and monitoring security systems.

Physical Requirements:

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 70 per week
