What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Permit Coordinator position at Southern Transport?
Southern Transport, LLC was established in 2006 with a one-ton truck and a gooseneck trailer, hauling local hot shot loads. It has now grown into a very respected, national choice for heavy-haul transport, lifting and freight services.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an on-site experienced Lead permit coordinator at our Kilgore, Texas location.
A permit coordinator issues oversize/overweight permits and a variety of related State Permits. Reviews and processes permit requests from over the road drivers, company, and lease on drivers. Permit with local/state routing systems that will process oversize/overweight permits and determines location of structures and construction procedures for minimum disruption of the roadway function and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees.
The Lead Coordinator position will be over the additional three permit coordinators.
Requirements:
- Excellent map reading ability and knowledge of United States geography.
- General knowledge of all state laws, rules, and DOT regulations.
- Possess a working knowledge of tractor-trailer combinations in the over the road, heavy haul industry.
- Strong time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills, responds promptly to internal and external customer needs to meet company commitments.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, listening) to accurately interpret information and gain clarification in a professional manner.
- Excellent computer (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and internet preferred.
- Ability to work flexible shifts as needed to meet company deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve conflicts in a timely manner.
- Ability to work as a team member and be self-motivated to achieve results.
