What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grants Financial Analyst position at Southern Ute Indian Tribe?
POSITION SUMMARY: The Grants Financial Analyst is responsible for working closely with Tribal staff members on all financial grant and related Tribal budget and spending matters. In addition, the Grants Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting in monitoring programs to ensure compliance with grant or contract regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists Program Directors in identifying programs responsive to Tribal needs and securing funding to operate these programs.
- Assists in monitoring programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Private grant or contract regulations, including monitoring budgets, collecting reports from Program Directors and completing required reports.
- Assists in maintaining official (auditable) records and preparing financial reports and official documents for timely submission to funding agencies.
- Records all relevant financial information regarding grants awarded and associated documents into a Database.
- Assists in seeking out new potential sources of funds for Tribal programs.
- Initiates and/or conducts Tribal inter-department meetings to identify and prioritize spending of Tribal funds and grant funds.
- Assists in preparing the necessary budgets for grant applications.
- Assists with the maintenance of resource material to assist the Contracts & Grants Manager and the Program Managers with grant financial management.
- Responds to requests from CFO and Contracts & Grants Manager.
- Develops and conducts training for Tribal Departments related to grant financial management. This will include but not be limited to, budget and financial statement development, use of grant funds, and how certain financial statements are relevant to the funding agencies and grant partners.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have an AA in Business, Accounting, or a relevant field and 3 years grant financial management experience OR 5 years grant financial management experience.
Must have experience interpreting and preparing budgets and financial statements.
Must have experience making oral and written presentations.
Must have experience reviewing and interpreting sponsor, state and federal grant regulations.
Must show a record of securing funding as a result of grant applications and renewals.
Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
Must have experience and knowledge of finance, budget development and administration, as proven in a financial writing exercise using Excel.
Must pass a thorough criminal history background check and pre-employment drug test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Seven years of grant management experience.
Grant management experience working for a Native American Tribe or organization.
Demonstrated record of securing or managing more than $100K in funding as a result of grant applications and renewals.
Experience using Adobe Professional.
Experience developing and conducting training for groups and individuals.
TERO Preference.
