Company Overview: Family-owned market leader producing joint compounds and related products for the drywall finishing industry under the Ruco brand name. Located in Tucker, GA for more than 40 years and now with a second production facility in Anderson, SC, success at Southern Wall Products requires punctuality, consistent attendance, enthusiasm, ability to focus, proper and timely communication with supervisors and teammates. This role will be based at the Anderson, SC manufacturing facility.
Role Summary: The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting the operation in a multi-skilled capacity utilizing the skills of a Warehouse Agent and a forklift operator. The Technician must possess outstanding attention to detail, organizational skills, the ability to focus, and operate with little or no supervision. In addition to the below, there will be other duties as assigned with a reasonable amount of overtime and weekend work as needed. Heavy lifting using proper technique is required.
Role Requirements:
· Test incoming raw materials, resale products, and finished products.
· Resistance to temptation to cut corners. Proud of data integrity and accuracy.
· Accurately record and document sample and test data.
· Interpret test results and initiate corrective action if necessary, including ensuring out of specification material is tagged and alerting management and supervisors.
· Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
· Report and document failures to follow production procedures to management.
· Load unload materials pallets using forklifts or other lifting devices.
· Inspect filled containers to ensure that product is packaged according to required weights and volumes.
· Identify, resolve, and document minor process issues.
· Maintain a clean, orderly, safe work area.
· Work in product development laboratory as necessary to help develop or redevelop products.
· Work on mixer as necessary to produce test batches.
Experience
- 3 years experience in a quality assurance or quality control role within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with production team.
