General Description
The Director of Library & Learning Information Services (“Director”) is responsible for the leadership and overall management of library services, collections, and learning information resources. The Director is responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, recruitment, training, and supervision of staff in support of the academic, instructional and information needs of faculty, students, and staff. The Director will work closely with academic leaders to ensure adequate library and information resources are available to accomplish the mission of the University.
Responsibilities
- Provide vision and leadership for the library in support of the University’s mission and goals.
- Plan, develop, and deliver high quality library and information resource services that are accessible to all undergraduate and graduate students at the University.
- Establish a process of ongoing review, assessment, and improvement of all library programs and services aligned with student and faculty needs and expectations.
- Recruit and develop an effective and collaborative library staff.
- Collaborate with deans, chairs, directors, and key members of the University’s academic and support services to leverage institutional resources to maximize stewardship to meet student needs.
- Supervise the library professional, paraprofessional, and student staff.
- Oversee the library’s budget and operations to ensure the quality and integrity of all processes.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
- Participate in library consortial planning and implementation, including PASCAL and others.
- Work with all university stakeholders to determine resource and service needs including academics, facilities, and technology.
- Attend workshops and community events as the schedule allows.
- Collaborate with library directors at other colleges and universities, as appropriate and useful.
- Establish priorities for future library development and seek internal and external partners and funding sources, including grants, to advance the operations of the library.
- Attend committee meetings, faculty meetings, Academic Council, to represent the library and information resource needs.
- Provide reference service, research and information literacy instruction, cataloging, archives, and other services, as needed.
