What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dual Certified Students with Disabilities 7-12 and Biology and/or Chemistry Teacher position at Southern Westchester BOCES?
PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Southern Westchester BOCES Mission, Values, and Goals in all instruction, decisions, and actions.
- Identify specific student learning challenges; develop, design, and implement differentiated lessons and programs to address these challenges.
- Prepare student IEPS in collaboration with instructional teams.
- Work collaboratively with the site teams to identify needs and support students academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Collaborate with related-service providers and school counselors to identify and provide opportunities for students to explore academic, career, and life goals.
- Support students and families throughout the process of transitioning to post - secondary learning and vocational programs.
- Collaborate with colleagues in support of students in their endeavors to engage in all academic coursework and SEL programming.
- Communicate with parents/guardians on a regular basis.
- Contribute to the planning of student support through the Child Study Team process.
- Participate in school community-building activities, clubs, and events.
Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Dual New York State Secondary Special Education Certification, Biology and/or Chemistry required.
- Thorough understanding of Students with Disabilities and the continuum of services.
- Knowledge of the New York State Science Learning Standards.
- Knowledge and understanding of Therapeutic Special Education programs.
- Minimum of three (3) years of special education teaching experience preferred.
