Southern Winds Hospital specializes in the treatment of mental health disorders and addictions. We are licensed to aid multiple types of disorders. With an emphasis on the therapeutic process, we focus on getting to know the patient and his/her strengths and individual skills.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Therapeutic Recreation, the Therapeutic Recreation Assistant assesses the psycho-social needs of patients assigned and plans, organizes, and directs medically-approved recreation programs for patients in the hospital.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Directs and organizes such activities as sports, structured games, exercise, leisure education, and arts and crafts to assist patients to develop interpersonal relationships, to socialize effectively, and to develop the confidence needed to participate in group activities.
· Instructs patients in relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, concentration, and other activities, to reduce stress and tension.
· Instructs patients in calisthenics, stretching and limbering exercises, and individual and group sports.
· Counsels and encourages patients to develop leisure activities.
· Prepares progress charts, assessments, and progress notes for medical staff and other members of the treatment team, reflecting patients' reactions and evidence of progress or regression.
· Required to have the flexibility of schedule to meet the needs of the patient.
· Performs other assigned duties as required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
