Responsibilities: This position reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer/Provost and is responsible for providing academic leadership in areas such as the use of instructional technology, diversity of learning approaches, intellectual pursuits, and accountability. The Dean, in conjunction with faculty, provides a vision for the future direction of Professional and Transfer Programs within the college’s strategic goals and mission. Provides leadership within the school for developing, achieving, and evaluating the success of goals as they relate to the college. The Dean must be committed to the college’s mission, vision, and strategic plans and is expected to cooperate/collaborate with all units/departments of the college. Provides operational supervision and exerts visionary leadership in the development and operation of all aspects of the university transfer or professional instructional programs of the college. Coordinates the development and modification of program curricula within the division; monitors currency and revision of goals and objectives for all the division’s courses; maintains common goals and objectives for multiple section classes taught; ensures standardized syllabus preparation; and promotes consistent course outcomes. Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer/Provost, the Dean leads faculty in developing and implementing an effective plan for course assessment, program-specific and general education goals, as well as student academic achievement. The Dean is to be actively involved in the development and achievement of annual enrollment objectives consistent with the overall needs and goals of the college, especially as they relate to programs and courses under the auspices of the division. Directs curriculum and program development, revision, and ongoing evaluation. Monitors enrollment, approves course schedules, participates in recruitment and retention efforts, interprets college programs and policies for students and employees, hears third-level student grievances for the assigned division of responsibility, and collaborates with student services personnel in developing and implementing student assessment and placement policies and procedures. Monitors and supports the approved process to ensure that all academic programs are reviewed on a scheduled basis. The Dean is responsible for the quality and integrity of any data, including the assessment of student achievement, which is utilized in the review process, and will take a lead role in assisting department chairs, program coordinators, and faculty in the development and implementation of an effective assessment plan. Based on assessment data, the incumbent monitors the development and revision of curriculum, course outlines, syllabi, instructional methodologies, and textbook adoption. The Dean represents the division and the College within the community, including K-12 districts, other educational institutions, and agencies.
