DESCRIPTION
The Director of Facilities is a single-incumbent position, under minimal supervision, performs senior level work to preserve the good condition of infrastructure and ensure that facilities are safe and well-functioning. The role has direct management and maintenance of school facilities, ensuring they meet legal requirements and health and safety standards.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
This role is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with leadership, communication, and planning skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to exercise professionalism, and a high degree of integrity, while dealing with school administration and the campus community. Experience working in a JK-12 school setting is highly preferred.
The ideal candidate will be well-organized and able to optimize the use of school space and equipment while reducing operating costs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment.
- Overseeing the upkeep and maintenance of school facilities.
- Plan and coordinate installations and refurbishments.
- Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards.
- Inspect buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
- Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize costs.
- Supervise all staff facilities staff (custodians, technicians, groundskeepers etc.) and external contractors.
- Control activities like parking space allocation, waste disposal, building security etc.
- Handle service contracts and insurance plans in collaboration with the Finance department.
- Prepare, track, and manage facility budget.
- Ensure school facilities are clean and wellmaintained.
- May allocate office space according to needs at the direction of the Head of School.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation with a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in facility management, engineering, business administration or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as facilities director or similar managerial role, preferably in a school setting.
- Evidence of commitment to a local church is highly desirable.

COMPENSATION
Salary is negotiable based on individual qualifications and will be set within range of comparable management roles at Southlake Christian Academy.
