APPLICANTS

Southlake Christian Academy is accepting applications for a full-time Upper School Science Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic school year. All interested and qualified applicants will be considered.

We seek highly motivated and collaborative colleagues who are interested in providing an exceptional level of service to our students and school community. Successful individuals will demonstrate a willingness and ability to serve in a respectful, kind, and joyful manner with the highest degree of integrity and effectiveness in supporting student learning and academic success.

DEADLINE

Applications will be accepted until we receive an acceptable number of qualified candidates. Failure to answer the supplemental questions will result in disqualification. All application materials will be evaluated to determine the most qualified candidates.

INTERVIEWS

Finalists will be invited to the next round in the selection process. Interviews may be on a rolling basis through March 2025. The selection process may include one or more rounds of interviews and a classroom teaching demonstration.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Science Teacher candidates should have experience working with upper school students in individual and group settings. Candidates must be professional and supportive. The ideal candidate will help build a secure classroom environment where each student that enters feel safe and confident. They will foster strong connections with each student to prepare them to flourish spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment.

1. Instruct students utilizing your understanding of scientific content

2. Demonstrate the ability to inspire learning and cultivate relationships with students.

3. Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, planned activities, Biblical integration, assessments, and resources.

4. Incorporate effective classroom management and discipline procedures to provide for a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.

5. Regularly review and update course curriculum guide/maps to assure the fulfillment of proper instructional priorities and pacing.

6. Model effective teacher/parent partnering through timely communication with parents in support of student learning.

7. Give evidence of a Biblical worldview and a personal spiritual commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and should be committed to and in agreement with the philosophy and objectives of Southlake Christian Academy.

8. Maintain professional appearance as defined in employee handbook.

9. Exercise a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s Degree is required and a concentration in Science is preferred.
• North Carolina certification preferred.
• Evidence of commitment to a local church is highly desirable.

COMPENSATION

Salary is negotiable based on individual qualifications.
