What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapy Technician position at Southlake Orthopaedics?
Southlake Orthopaedics has an opening for a part-time Therapy Technician at our Hoover location, which is a busy and very fast paced clinic. The Therapy Technician Supports physical and occupational therapy care delivery by preparing treatment areas, equipment, materials, and supplies; performing procedures, under the supervision of licensed therapist(s).
Responsibilities and Duties
- Prepares treatment area(s) for patients.
- Helps treat patients by applying heat packs; paraffin dips; assisting patients into whirlpool; helping patients onto exercise equipment, monitoring motion; tracking walking time and distance; measuring mobility; performing prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.
- Provides equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering equipment and supplies to treatment area; positioning equipment for therapist access; positioning patient on equipment.
- Maintains physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions.
- Interest in pursuing a career in the medical field, preferably physical or occupational therapy, preferred.
